The paper aims to analyse whether culture specific elements typical of American culture in an episode of the TV series The Simpsons, can be rendered in its German and Polish versions without losing the information required to comprehend the events presented in the cartoon, despite differences between the countries’ cultures and languages. Secondly, the author aims to examine whether the German and Polish viewers can learn anything about American culture from the translations, and, to conclude, he aims to illustrate how distinct results can be obtained after rendering audiovisual material by means of different methods of audiovisual translation.
