Minako O’Hagan has been involved in interdisciplinary translation research investigating impacts of technology on translation. Her earlier publications include The Coming Industry of Teletranslation (O’Hagan, 1996) and the co-authored Translation-mediated Communication in a Digital World: Facing the Challenges of Globalization and Localization (O’Hagan & Ashworth, 2002). Minako’s research profile includes involvements in externally funded projects as a principal investigator and a quality monitor as well as individual research supported by fellowships. She is also engaged in external examining and teaching in the area of translation technology and videogame localisation. Her recent research focus is on fan translation and localization of digital interactive media. Research topics of her current doctoral students are the study of anime subtitles using eye-tracker, the study of blogs as public and private space and post-editing of Machine Translation.
